I am pleased to report a most successful and enjoyable regatta which involved 24 crews allocated over 4 races.
There were some 34 clubs represented in the various crews, including 2 Canberra crews with 4 ACT clubs represented, and with 50% of the crews travelling from outside Sydney, including paddlers from Wagga, Orange, Bathurst and Newcastle.
Given the Queensland Cyclone activity, we were a bit nervous about the weather forecast, but conditions were deemed safe during our pre-race recce and the races were held without incident.
Race start times were 0900, 1020, 1140 and 1300. I have attached a copy of the Race program. Sweeps briefings were held 30 minutes prior to each race.
There were 3 safety boats in attendance including 2 x 4.5m vessels and a RIB fitted with a prop guard. Maureen O'Neill was the DBNSW designated Water Umpire.
As usual, Bei Loon provided a free BBQ and a quality trophy was given to all competing crews.
We arranged for extensive photo coverage of the event and photos will be sent to each club during the coming week. I will also send a number to DBNSW.
