Beiloon entered a strong team for the day with 40 paddlers, and crews entered for the 500m races:

We got off to a good start in the Senior A mixed 20’s with both heats very tight with only 1 sec off the pace for a placing in the final.

Senior B mixed 20’s races followed. Results were very encouraging in the heats and Beiloon placed 4^th in the final.

Results in the Senior A Open 20’s were also encouraging. We placed 2^nd in the first heat and 3^rd  in the second heat. We placed 5^th (02:18.16), a little off the pace, in a very quick final.

The Senior B women’s 20’s was the inspiration and story of the day. Heat placing of 2^nd  and 2^ndtempered our expectations a little, and did not suggest the thrilling events that unfolded in the final. The first 250 metres were tight and then our women lifted the tempo and just pulled away from the rest of the field to claim first.

The mostly male HOBS (husbands, others and boyfriends) made a lot of noise and went wild in the stands.  It is difficult to describe the excitement of the girls in the winning team, and it did not subside even after they were made to paddle the boat up to the storage area, and then walk back.
